Fauci told CNN he will work from home and stay home, but that he might also go to his office at the National Institutes of Health, where no other staffers are working.
Fauci told the outlet he is among federal officials being tested every day for the coronavirus and had tested negative on Friday.
Fauci said he had a “low-risk” exposure to the person who tested positive.
It is unclear who Fauci came in contact with at the White House, though news broke Friday that Katie Miller, the spokeswoman for the White House’s coronavirus task force, tested positive for the virus.
With a growing number of White House personnel coming down with the virus, several high-ranking officials have been forced to quarantine out of an abundance of caution.
Both Stephen Hahn, the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration and Robert Redfield, the director of the CDC, are undergoing two-week quarantines after exposure to an infected person in the White House.
