Mapping & Directions

Before you leave find out the address and specifically the postcode of your accommodation as well as any factories/building you may be visiting on your trip, make a note of these and keep it on your person at all times, this will be important should you get lost at any point and need to ask for directions. Visit Google maps, use the route planner and get an idea for the route so you have a rough idea of where you will be going, the roads you’ll be using or areas you will be passing through. If you have a GPS then it will be much easier for you, if however you have to rely on printing out direction then getting to know the route is far more important. Most mobile phones charge an outrageous price for accessing data abroad so using your GPS is out of the question to most people, certain phones allow you to download maps you will be using in advance and save them to use in offline mode so look in to whether you can do that.

Accommodation

Whether you are travelling within your own country or abroad accommodation is a key factor, you need to ensure that you have researched how far away it is from the place you are visiting for example then is no point in arranging for serviced apartments in Norwich if you are visiting London, you will give yourself a long trip on the day, if however your meeting was somewhere in East Anglia then Norwich would be perfect. Serviced apartments are a great alternative to hotels, they are cheaper and you’ll find there is far less noise within the buildings than in a hotel so you’ll get a better night’s sleep.

Transfers/Car Hire

If travelling abroad one of the first things you need to do is book your transfers to and from the airport, there are various transfer companies that offer anything from a taxi to a chauffeur driven Mercedes. Car hire services are also available directly from most airports which are great if you want a bit more freedom and don’t want to have to rely on ordering taxi’s all the time.
