According to The U.S. Sun, Rovi Wade told fans her neighbor got upset with her over a TikTok where she filmed herself dressed in a pair of denim booty shorts.
Wade said she was filming outside on a public street when her neighbor confronted her over her attire.
She paired the shorts with a sparkly silver crop top, a spiked choker and black knee-high boots.
After being insulted by the furious neighbour, Rovi “politely” told the woman that she had “every right to be there” and it was public property.
According to Ladbible, the denim booty shorts outfit was too much for the neighbor of the TikTok dancer, who confronted her over it while she was filming a video, being told her dress was “inappropriate.”
Wade defended her attire and said she had every right to wear what she wanted and film her video.
The unnamed neighbor only became more upset and apparently called the police and claimed she Wade had filmed on her property without a permit.
Wade used the opportunity to film another video, captioning her recorded conversation with a responding officer “yesterday my neighbor called the cops on me for dressing ‘inappropriately’.”
Understandably, Rovi didn’t expect her to actually ring the cops – but shortly after they arrived, so the TikToker decided to film the conversation.
The TikTok user who got the cops called on her for her denim booty shorts outfit can be heard standing her ground with the responding officer, who repeatedly tells her he “understands.”
“I am fully dressed, she just doesn’t like my style,” she can be heard telling the officer, news.com.au reports.
“And I told her, ‘My body offends you. That’s what the issue is.’”
“And I’m allowed to exist and be hot, and I’m going to continue to do so.”
Her video captioned “yesterday my neighbour called the cops on me for dressing ‘inappropriately’” has since racked up over 2.9 million likes and has been viewed almost 12 million times since it was shared on Saturday.
The TikTok user later shared an update with followers, saying she had resolved the issue with the responding officer called to the scene over her denim booty shorts outfit.
“He basically just talked to me as a formality, he was pretty blasé about the whole thing,” Rovi said.
“I just asked him to relay the message to my neighbor that I was going to continue to do what I want because I didn’t break any laws and I was well within my rights,” she said.
A number of her fans were firmly in Wade’s camp, and showered her with praise for her response, The Mirror reported.
Thousands of people also took the time to comment, with many sharing messages of support for Rovi and begging her to release merchandise featuring the phrase ‘I’m allowed to exist and be hot’.
