Trump says China ‘will do anything’ to stop his reelection
The president, in an Oval Office interview with Reuters, said the country’s handling of the coronavirus outbreak proves his assertion.
“China will do anything they can to have me lose this race,” Trump said.
Trump has ripped China for its lack of transparency and for failing to accurately report the number of coronavirus cases after the initial report of the outbreak in the city of Wuhan in December.
The president believes Beijing favors his opponent, Joe Biden, because of the tariff war waged between the two countries since 2018.
Trump told Reuters that he’s considering his options with how to deal with China.
“There are many things I can do,” he said without elaborating. “We’re looking for what happened.”
It was reported by NBC News on Wednesday that the White House asked US intelligence agencies to investigate whether China and the World Health Organization covered up what they knew about the early spread of COVID-19.
