White House economist Larry Kudlow says feds will extend eviction moratorium
Kudlow told CNN in a Sunday interview the moratorium on booting tenants during the coronavirus pandemic will continue.
He didn’t say how, but The Post has learned Kudlow meant it will be extended through legislation.
The moratorium was passed Congress in March as part of the $2 trillion CARES Act. New Republican relief legislation is expected to be released Monday, though laborious negotiations with Democrats are likely to follow.
The Aspen Institute estimates that up to 23 million people could face eviction by October if the eviction pause is allowed to be lifted.
The expired ban on evictions protected renters who miss monthly payments and live in buildings with federally backed loans. Some states, including New York, have their own moratoriums.
